Jason Barnes & Erica Berg
Jason Barnes and Erica Berg reside in Minneapolis, MN and began their dance partnership together in 2003. They currently compete on the National Swing Dance Circuit in the Classic Swing division and are beginning their 3rd year together. In 2005 and 2006, they finished 5th on the NASDE tour and have shared numerous titles together, including 2004 U.S. Open Swing Dance champions in the Teams division with the Midwest Rebels Swing Dance team. They are also 3-time finalists in the Classic Division at the U.S. Open, most recently placing 6th at the 2006 U.S Open.
In addition to West Coast Swing, Jason’s dance background includes success on the country circuit with previous dance partners and more recently in Int’l and Latin Ballroom. Erica’s dance background is comprised of ballet training but she attributes much of her dance interpretation to her music background. She played the violin for 9 years and the piano for 13 years, earning numerous college scholarships. In 2005, Erica was a 3-time NASDE All-star Jack n’ Jill champion at such events as Capital Swing Dance, Swingtime in the Rockies, and Boogie by the Bay. In 2006, Erica won the All-star Jack n’ Jill at the prestigious 4th of July convention in Phoenix, AZ, the NASDE All-star Jack n’ Jill contest at the Swingtime in the Rockies event in August, drawing her partner Jason, and the NASDE All-star Jack n’ Jill contest at Boogie by the Bay. In 2007, she was invited to dance in the Invitational Jack n’ Jill contest at the 2007 NASDE Capital Swing Dance Championships in February. Erica is also the new event director of the Twin Cities Rebels Swing Dance Challenge and Masquerade Ball, held each fall in Minneapolis, MN. Hopefully everyone will make plans to attend this great event, October 12-14th, 2007!
Jason and Erica truly love dancing together and teaching all over the country. It’s a blessing for them to share their knowledge with others, no matter the skill level. With over 14 years of teaching experience between them, their workshops are educational and fun for everyone.
